It was really nice to see so many happy people starting off their safari last week. The Wild Dog Safaris office is where we start our safaris from. We collect each client from their accommodation in Windhoek and bring them back to our base.
Coffee and tea is always waiting and this is a good time to double check details with the office. If you have hired a sleeping bag you might want to check it’s packed! We do sell some useful items such as electrical adaptors, water, hats and you might want a Wild Dog Safaris t-shirt for the trip!
This is also the time where you meet your guide and assistant. They will answer any last minute queries you might have and make sure you know where your safari will be taking you.
Visas are something to just be aware of if you are doing the trip to Vic Falls. Most passports do not require any special visa other than the one issued at the border when you enter but there are just a few countries that will require a pre-arranged visa. We enter Botswana and Namibia more than once so you will need a multiple entry visa and not a single entry visa. For everyone entering Zambia there is a charge of USD50.00 per person and this needs to be in USD.
Read the following link for more detail on visa requirements !
Funnily enough last month I was telling all clients that you needed a Yellow Fever vaccination if you were going anywhere in Zambia and then going on to South Africa. This was a new request from the health authorities in South Africa and started mid June 2011. However, we have just today been notified that this no longer applies! This regulation lasted less than a month. I will follow up on this to confirm as I’m sure there will be a fair bit of confusion around this.
Back to our trips, we did take some photos of the different groups leaving last week. Some of these have been posted on our facebook. You will all be on the road as I write this but it would be great to hear from you and let us know how your safari went.

Dear Wilddog Safaris,
thank you for very good opportunity to see Northern part of Namibia. My classmate and I had very pleasant week with our safari group. I would like to say thanks for Frieda Amutenya, Tour Planner for her patience with clients.
I would also like to say thanks for Ndaheya and Jason, our guide and assistant.
Due to their deep knowledge about Namibia and love to Motherland I got better understanding about life, traditions, culture and languages of local indigenous people of Namibia.
//
Sincerely,
representative of indigenous people of Kazakhstan in Namibia,
Anara
